Robin Costelle @ Mid South Woodturners Guild

Post by Bob Speier » Sat Feb 16, 2013 1:19 pm

Robin will be doing a chapter demo at the Mid South Woodturners Guild in Memphis TN on the 4th Sat of April. As always you never know what Robin will do but he's always fun to watch. The demos are always open to non members for a small fee so if you'd like to see the genius in action put the date on your calendar and contact Skip Wilbur at swilb@earthlink.net, President of MSWG.

Dave - I believe the 4th Saturday would be April 27... so, unless they are posting photos as ads for the upcoming demo (now there's a thought!), we may have to wait a while.

Whoops my mistake, read it as the 4th not the 4th Saturday.

Oh crap, I been so out of touch that I forgot all about this which would not be bad except he is staying with me! :o

Seriously, Robin does a great demo and puts on a great show soif you can attend you won't be disappointed .

It's on my long range planning calendar and I've already bought a bus ticket. I heard that young guy from Dexter Missouri may be there too... probably just to heckle Robin. Looking forward to it.

Just got home from a really great day all round... except for the deluge of water falling from the sky.

Robin did a great job. I didn't realize he has such a keen sense of humor, but then he has to have since he was hanging out with one of the Memphis/Collierville locals.

Seriously it was a fun day all around and I'm certainly glad I did not let the weather stop me from making the drive. Renewed contact with some old friends and made some new ones. Good demo, really nice pieces in their Instant Gallery by Robin, Jim Adkins, one of Jim's students, and lots from the local club, what more does it take to make a good day?

I didn't get a lot of pictures but here are a few and there are more in the gallery.

Jim Adkins watching intently.

Keith Burns, before and after... this is after they poked him with a stick.
DSCN4511.JPG
... and after they made him move up front and pay attention.
DSCN4500.JPG
Some of Robin's fine work.

Robin also provided the halftime entertainment.

...darn, I can actually play this thing?
Like I said there are more pictures in the gallery. Gallery, Users Personal Albums, Chuck Jones, Costelle at MSWG (unfortunately all in reverse order).

Wow, talk about some turning luminaries in that crowd. The monthly instant gallery must be incredible. Thanks for the update, Chuck!

Thanks for the photos Chuck. It was good to see you again and we did have a good time. They have a really great group of members there-even the Burns guy is ok. Always good to spend a bit of time with some old and new friends and turners. -Robin
