There have been two listed on the Woodturning Tool Exchange group on Facebook in the last year and I bought one a couple years ago on the woodcentral forum. You just have to keep your eyes open and be ready and willing to drive. I kept mine for about a year before selling it and buying my robust.

Thanks Jeff yeah I missed out on a nice one for $1200 in eastern Va. I couldn't get to it until 2 days after the posting.

$1200? Yeah, I'd say you missed out... Could have turned around and sold it for twice that! Not that you would have, just sayin'...

I had a late '80s PM90 (not the 60s-70s version) that I had risers on, with a 2hp motor, FWD/REV, POT (variable speed), E-stop, completely refinished, etc, etc. I really liked that lathe. One thing I didn't like was the gap bed. Just made it a PITA to get the banjo where you needed it on the headstock side of the turning. If you have the room, might want to hold onto that one after you find a PM3520. Would be nice to have two... ;)

Josh, you're making a good choice, both on the lathe and on buying it used. I bought an 8 month old PM 3520B for $1800 in 2008. Got it at the Campbell School and could probably sell it for more now. A few weeks ago I was at Arrowmont and they had a lathe that was for sale. The fact is that woodturning is largely a pastime for retired or near retired people. Many of those lathes come on the market after a few years and are available at good prices for those who are patient. Good luck on your hunt.

I found a great deal last night on a 3520A so I bought it. I wanted the B but i could not pass up this deal it came with the 18" extension and a 50" extension as well as a chuck and some other accessories. I do have a question I want to be able to mount the 18" extension down low like you can on the B to be able to turn bigger platters and such on the right side of the lathe. Does anyone have any suggestions to do that? Do you think a B model leg would fit on the A or could I save a lot of money and drill and tap the holes to make it work? I haven't looked to much since I just bought it last night. Thanks
